Darren has been unable to replicate this problem using PuTTY as a client. Could you please try to see whether sshd is dumping core? You can follow the instructions at the end of "man sysctl" - search for "nosuidcoredump" to enable coredumps for the sshd process. Once that is done, you can try to reproduce your problem and then check the /var/crash/sshd directory. -d
