No "perhaps". BOOTX64.EFI uses TFTP to load the kernel, just like
pxeboot does.

With UEFI and PXE I have successfully netbooted
* arm64 (OverDrive 1000) with BOOTAA64.EFI
* amd64 (Thinkpad X1C5) with BOOTX64.EFI after bluhm@'s recent
  bootdev_dip fix
