both David's and Lloyd's errors reek of running out of space in the
places that the kernel relinking happens. Lloyd's especially so, but
8GB for a disk is asking for all sorts of lack-of-space issues over time
nowadays so I'm guessing its the same issue with David's system too.
(I'm leaning more towards running out of space due to partitioning
layout more so than bad CF, but wouldn't be surprised if its both)
