For a good pile of old stuff (eg: 3.5 big, heavy and hot sata disks) but it support also 2.5 disks, all with hot swap (you shut them down when you want) I live together with my: Orico O3559U3 http://gaox.io/l/O3559U3 and a couple of shell scripts that prepare the scaffolding to copy source data and mount destination partitions through: rdiff-backup I recently added live server backup that are turning to deltas of: duplicity I personally live for a day-by-day basis life..so it a daily duty, not years. Every 3-4 months max replacing full backups.
