Why "especially if it is a CDN" ?
Because CDNs work on the principle of caching data for as long as
possible, and at least for snapshots, packages change almost daily for
the main arches and that means that some 50-100G of data is renewed
and most CDNs don't like when the files are so "short-lived". Release
files and packages usually fare better, they don't change after the
release, so they can be cached far longer at the edge without checking
if new content needs to be collected or not.
