I'll loop in the list on this one since this is a bit above my pay grade, but it's easy enough to find out without overwriting your existing system - the installer ramdisk kernel may even support most of it. As for your complaint with Linux being especially fragile, I feel like there's a more conscious effort to ensure that the chances of that happening are close to zero, but be advised that it is most definitely not zero.
