it's probably doing a chmod, you might get some clues about exactly
what by doing this:

make sure your current working dir has plenty of space
run it as "ktrace -i iridium"
get it to fail (it will run slower than normal)
^C
kdump | tail -1000 > somefile
rm ktrace.out
