My guess is that is a wired hardware function, not under the control of any 
software.

when I type mixerctl on my system I see things like:

outputs.spkr_muters=mic,line,hp


perhaps something like

mixerctl outputs.spkr_muters=

and

mixerctl outputs.spkr_mute=off
