That _might_ be relevant, because the device seems to be behaving simliarly
to, for example, a USB card reader that has no media inserted.  So it's
plausible that the device is detected and size/manufacturer info is read from
the eMMC but data transfers fail.  I haven't had time to look more closely at
the code so this is basically just a wild guess at this point.

Support was added to sdmmc_mem.c back in 2020, see the commit message for
revision 1.34.
