It's worth noting that a large proportion of the 'home user connecting to a
residential ISP' installations would be served perfectly well with a static
resolv.conf.

There seems to be a widespread mis-understanding that a dynamically assigned
IP via dhcp somehow obliges thE use of resolvd, but that is not the case.

(Obviously if the ISP nameservers are not known, you can let resolvd discover
 them once, then disable it and use a static resolv.conf with the same IPs.)
