nothing can be "most correct", either something is correct or it isn't,
"correct" is an absolute term meaning free from error

sticking to aged CVS isn't exactly professional either

the best option would be replacing aged CVS with git and use one of git
web interfaces already proven to be extremely fast performing, i.e. cgit

this means using CVS in itself remains a "temporary fix", as it has been
proven to be low performing and cumbersome in operation compared to much
more advanced git, and lacks quality web UIs
