I'm going to assume these are typos, and you actually used the same
device (rsd2c vs. sd1), and meant 7.9-current, not 4.9.
You should probably highlight that this is arm64. At first I thought
the fdisk partitions looked wrong, since on amd64 the images have an
EFI System Partition of type EF, and this is type 0C, but apparently
that's fine for arm64. I tested the latest arm64 snapshot
miniroot79.img under VMware Fusion on my MacBook, and it boots just
fine. (I had to use qemu-img to convert it to a VMDK; attaching the
ISO to the VM is much simpler!)
I also tested that miniroot79.img in UTM and it works fine there, too.
(Both VMware Fusion and UTM are booting via UEFI, using EDK II.) Both
dmesg are attached.
