As was already pointed out on tech@, you'd want a reasonably fast CPU
for IDS functions. It's worth pointing out that it's not a very good
idea to log (much) to CF, either.
As to the laptop, the canonical answer is anything that says 'Thinkpad'
on the cover. No clue about the VIA-based systems, or even what those
would be.
