Yes, there is. I did run that "Linux" thingy for years, with a
completely manually managed userland (i.e. no distribution) plus
some own (probably silly) patches. And it sucked. For me. For my
purposes.

Well, I don't plan to use OpenBSD, since I already use it (except
for my office PC, where I'm forced to use Linux or Windows).
