a comment to the article mentions that x86 is not a good arch for high
pps firewalls because it has limits in interrupts per seconds it can
handle. No one commented on that.
Is this true? Which archs supported by openbsd are better suited for
that kind of work?

You might want to take a look at this article [0] where ONLamp.com
interviews the PF developers. In it Ryan McBride, where he mentions that
AMD64 is an excellent choice for high speed links. I didn't see any
mention of architectures that were limited in the number of interrupts
per second.
