A MINIPCI->PCI converter will work in any machine, with any operating system. It is a passive device. It is just wires. There are no real electronics on it. It just converts the pci connector pinout to a minipci connector pinout. It is the same for CF. CF is just pcmcia. I have CF->PCMCIA and PCMCIA->CF adapters. It is just pin swapping and such (actually to be honest, CF cards may have an extra pin that cameras use to access the flash directly, but this does not concern their use in a regular machine). Another thing to know is that a fair number of 802.11 PCI devices which have a "big can around the chips" on the card actually are minipci adapters containing a minipci 802.11 card. So you can sometimes reuse those. This is especially true for some of the older TI acx cards. Good luck.
