Mine works just like yours! I only add to /etc/hostname.pppoe0 a line like that:
inet 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 0.0.0.1 blah blah (eadem to yours)
!/sbin/route delete 0.0.0.1
!/sbin/route add default 0.0.0.1
