Finally, a really meaningful point. This whole affair has once again proved that the project's dedication to getting a hardware vendor to reduce completely open specifications and documentation, and not compromises around such, is truly the only "safe" way to go. Also proving all the more that the GPL is without a doubt an extremely short-sighted and self-serving reference to software freedom. Poison, both in the sense of software licensing and developer mindset. DS
