Thank you, but still nothing. The verbose option shows the kernel probing for various things but it doesn't spit out any errors. Enabling acpi makes no difference either.
As a long shot, I did just add the cdrom drive earlier today; I don't think that would make any difference but that's all I can think of. Thanks again.
