Yes, repeatable.

I didn't try to reseat the nic (or the ram), but it worked
fine booting from the bsd.rd kernel, either off the
hard drive or the cd.   The box ran fine for years
until just now.

I do get errors on boot that say something like
"unable to reset tx and rx to idle state",
one for each card.  I think 3.9 (and earlier
but I don't recall for how far back)
did that also.  I can get the exact message
if you like.

Is there something you want me do on repeat?

FYI, kernel is 4.0 stable as of June 27, 2007.
