Does the spare partition have to be FAT? What if I download all the file sets
to a
spare ffs partition - will that work?
Thanks for your reply - there are at least a few different things I can try to
get
OpenBSD setup.

PS: It would have been vastly easier to do this if the CD-ROM drive on this
system
(an old Compaq Deskpro) worked.
