I know in the past the question has come up about sata optical drive support, this system uses "TSSTcorp, CDRWDVD TS-H493B" which is sata, there where no problems on 4.2 -RELEASE or -CURRENT as far as reading disks goes, I didn't attempt to burn any disks.
