1. Perl is included in the base OS. 2. If you are new to OpenBSD, you should try to stick to already-ported 3rd party applications in the ports/packages system. That way, you will be sure of automatically install any dependencies without worry. 3. OpenBSD 4.0 has been unsupported for five months. The most recent release is 4.2, and 4.3 will be released on May 1.
