Interesting. I had this problem on an IBM 600x, but due to the age of the hardware assumed it was some quirkiness with its ACPI/apm implementation.
In the end, I had to use a Windows install to manage the IRQs to stop a conflict between sone subsystems. It helped make the keyboard freeze less often, but never fully eliminated it.
