Yeah, I need vmware for development on a slew of operating systems, it's a

Just tried that it didn't work.  However Alexandre Ratchov mentioned that 
I try aucat -l -m play instead of just aucat -l.  This sped things up 
immensely and I can see the second counter in mplayer now and watch movies
(at least the .flv's that I have).  No longer is mplayer complaining that
sound is too slow.

At least it's a workaround :).
