Yes, you need a partition to suspend. And that partition must have the correct type, and have some sort of formatting on it. I don't remember any details, so Google is your friend. Back when I had a laptop (2000 or so), suspend worked in OpenBSD but failed miserably in Winblows. Ken Hendrickson
