I know about the higher speeds but i doubt the OP does. They're focusing on cables for a job that is way more suitable for a "real" network and (as you say) forget to mention any other relevant details. My guess would be that if you have high-speed UARTs, then you know what you're doing and have a notion of the cables you need (and recognize that this setup is basically a Bad Idea (tm)). I realized later that OP mentioned 3 machines, not 2, making "real network" an even more suitable solution.
