Hi Sonjaya,

You ask a very open-ended question here. To get into specifics would
be too difficult in one email. But here is a rough outline to get you
started.

1) Install OBSD 4.5
2) Create a .procmailrc and put it in /etc/skel, for all your users to
use maildir format (courier-imap demands this).
3) Install cyrus-sasl
4) Recompile sendmail to use it
5) Configure your sendmail.mc/sendmail.cf to use tls and cyrus sasl
6) Create your certificates
7) Test your server to see if it is working with sasl and tls
8) Once that is working, install courier-imap(s)
9) Create your certs for this (pay attention to the output of pkg_add,
it will help you here).
10) Test imap and imaps
11) If that is working, install courier-pop(s) (pretty much same steps
as courier-imap).
12) Test That pop is working.

You now have the basis of a working mx server based on Sendmail. You
could use postfix, but I know nothing about that. Some people use
Dovecot, but the version included in 4.5 does not include encryption
(though you could probably use stunnel to address that...). I used
imap-uw in the past -- but it is a bit slow, and there is also a
cyrus-imap as well. You can add a web front-end like squirrellmail or
horde too, if you like.

There is adequate documentation in the OBSD man pages, the OBSD
website and all over the web on each of these components if you need
further elaboration.

Remember that out-of-the-box, sendmail on OBSD does not accept any
requests from anything other than the localhost. You will need to fix
this in your rc.conf before you begin testing.

This outline built the components in pieces. If you are comfortable
enough with this stuff, it could be done all at once, but this way is
easier for testing.

Good luck!

Chris
