Dear Friend, It is the time to enjoy the fall harvest and we wish each of you a fruitful season. During this season, please consider giving a little to a child who needs your help the most, a child on our Emergency Child Waiting List. This list is updated monthly with children who are living in emergency situations and need immediate help. A gift as low as $20 a month will make a difference. View our Child Waiting List. If you choose to become a sponsor, you will have the benefit of watching him or her grow as if he or she was your own child. Read the story below about Maysam, who has now achieved his dream of becoming a college student thanks to the help of his sponsor.
A College Student's Story "My Dear Sponsor, I hope you are well and successful. You have always helped me so far. Thank you for your help. I can continue my studies and I am accepted to the Agricultural Branch of the University in Bam. I hope that God blesses you wherever you are. I hope you will continue your support since now I need more help to continue my education. Otherwise, I'd be forced to quit my studies. I hope that with your help I can finish my college education. Sincerely, Maysam" Maysam has not had an easy life. His father and younger sister were killed in the Bam earthquake several years ago. His family's home was also destroyed. After the earthquake, Maysam, his mother and two siblings lived in a tent. Thanks to the help from a local charity, their home was rebuilt and now their family lives in much better housing. However, Maysam's mother was injured in the earthquake and still has health problems today. His mother is illiterate and does not have any income. Maysam needs more sponsors now to ease the burden on his family. Please consider sponsoring Maysam to ensure that he can have a successful future. Sponsor Maysam today (type in file #C887) A Girl Named Arezou It has always been a great source of joy and satisfaction for us to share with sponsors the good news about successes and achievements of their sponsored children. Whenever they distinguish themselves in academics, or succeed in taking on additional responsibility in their own families, we would be more than happy to keep you updated. Sad news, on the other hand, is not so easily shared. In this special case, however, I was moved to make an exception. And, I think, after reading about it, you will know why. Arezou has just started high school. With the help of supporters like you she has enjoyed sponsorship through Child Foundation for the past 3 years. Although making good progress, she has recently fallen victim to an unlikely series of tough circumstances that are totally beyond her control. It seems that her life took a turn for the worse when her diabetic father passed away last year. A few years earlier, her 4-year-old brother had died on the way to a doctor's office after becoming severely sick. Last month, we learned that her only remaining brother, the one who had recently decided to quit school in order to help the family in financial crisis was himself a victim of a drowning accident in the Caspian Sea. I had to inform Arezou's sponsor of the news so he would not be surprised if her grades drop. And when I look at her file photo, it is almost as if her beautiful eyes can speak. Arezou means "wish" in Farsi language. And, like you, I can't stop thinking to myself what that "wish" might be. -Masoud Modarres, Executive Manager Child Foundation Member Receives UNICEF Award Congratulations to Peyman Raoofi, a Child Foundation Member in Los Angeles for receiving an Honorary Ambassador Award from UNICEF.
