hmm, on Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 05:21:07PM +0100, Peter Hessler said that > Did you create the link before or after the programs started? Most > won't check that file after they start, so they stay in UTC.
i am finding out that this is a curious situation. the said issue happens on a virtual openbsd box in vmware. when i finish at work, i 'suspend' it by closing vmware. when i start the image again, i update the time with rdate. system time catches up immediately, and other programs do as well (e.g. gkrellm) but with partial success: they are always one hour behind. if i explicitly restart gkrellm, it picks up the correct time. could this 1h difference be becuase of daylight saving? -f -- if they can send a man to the moon... why not send 'em all?
