the "bios" doesnt configure the chip correctly to be usable by ahci, therefore we do not attach to it. it is theoretically possible for the kernel to reconfigure it as an ahci device (despite the doco saying it is the sole responsibility of the bios to do that config), but all my attempts so far have failed.
