Thanks to information grasped in this list and that I tried to collect in man proposed man smtpd.conf rewrite, I am now able to predict what will be the result of my changes in smtpd.conf. The predictable character that should result from reading a man page is a must have for a good software.

After my test, I can be more precise about virtual.

In using an <alias user table>, the key searched is always the user part of the dest mailaddress, but <virtual user table> gives more possibilities.

becomes

In using an <alias user table>, the key searched is always the user part of the dest mailaddress, but with <virtual user table> the key is, for the first lookup the full mailaddress, and in case of failure, for the second lookup, the key is the user part of the mailaddress, and for the third it is catch-all @example.org.
