helo misc@,

In the past we have published frequent snapshots which were basically me
running a script that would tag the master/portable branches, create the
tarball, push it to the website, generate a changelog and mail it to the
list for you to know it was available.

We will no longer publish these snapshots but instead send a mail with a
git command to checkout the version of the code we want testing for. The
goal is to simplify the process for us so we can get user testing of the
code base more often while today eric@ might defer his need for feedback
just so we don't publish two tarballs very close one from another.

So to summarize: we'll keep up sending requests for testing, but instead
of publishing a tarball, we'll provide the command to checkout the right
version from git, as well as specific instructions should there be any.

If you have some servers that are not production critical and which have
backup MX in case they're down, we encourage you to run master branch on
OpenBSD and portable branch on other systems, to run bleeding edge code.
This is what runs on the OpenSMTPD mailing list machine, so they are not
too unstable :-)

Cheers,
