You may want to follow what H$U$ is proposing regarding commercial farms in various states. They were successful in getting Prop 2 passed in California and are partially successful in Michigan. They are fighting in Ohio as Ohio farmers are in the process of setting up their own board to oversee commercial farming conditions. One of H$U$'s/Pita's ads are actually geared towards overweight individuals and what they eat. And although commercial farming is, as you state, a big industry, they better have as much $$$ backing them and their lobbyists, as H$U$ has more than plenty and has worked hard to get like-minded individuals in at the governmental level. ----- Original Message ----- On Mon, Oct 5, 2009 at 12:47 PM, Taliesin MacAran <azhamme...@gmail.com> wrote: > In short, Mr. Socialist wants more government control over what people do. Don't worry about it. Factory farming is a huge industry, with very powerful lobbyists. There's pretty 0 chance of something like this actually happening. Heck, I don't even see any chance of step 1 (ending the existing subsidies) actually happening. -- James > Talie > > Commentary: A fat tax is a healthy idea > > Story Highlights > Rudy Ruiz: America's obesity epidemic costs the nation billions > He says taxing unhealthy food is one way to combat spread of obesity > He says government subsidies make unhealthy food more affordable > Ruiz: A study predicts 75 percent of Americans will be overweight by 2015 > > By Rudy Ruiz > Special to CNN > -- "no cause is lost if there is but one fool to fight for it" ~Will Turner~ ~Pirate's of the Caribbean @ World's End~ www.moliberty.org http://417-political-pundit.blogspot.com The power to tax involves the power to destroy. ~Justice John Marshall~ Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you! -Pericles (430 B.C.)
