It contains high levels of fat and sugar that are not only unhealthy but addictive. Unhealthy eating is cited as the second biggest killer after smoking. People in the West are eating more processed and fast food than ever, and 60% of the population is considered obese. Some of the obesity related diseases include Heart Disease, Diabetes (Type 2), Sleep Apnea, Arthritis, Respiratory Problems and Stroke. Junk food can also have an immediate and lasting effect on mental health and behavior with a high risk of mental illness. *However, we have an alternative – fresh **locally grown food*. Angela Jenkins’ presentation will center around our food supply as it relates to our health and what we as consumers can do by voting with our forks 3 times a day.
