No, I haven't installed one.  I hadn't realized that Edwin was using
it in the past on older versions of MacOS.  Apparently, new versions
of Mac don't come with an X11 server.

I installed XQuartz, and double-clicking the MIT/GNU Scheme icon in
Applications (even after renaming the icon to MIT-Scheme), still
doesn't work.  However, running MIT/GNU Scheme from an xterm in
XQuartz did work, so that's good news.  That must be the issue.
