I was going through the documentation of point-based registration module
available at the following link of MITK web page:

In that documentation, while describing the possible types of
transformations, it seems that Rigid, Affine and other transformations do
not use any rotation at all.
But ideally these transformations should contain rotation also as one of the
parameters!
Is it just a mistake in the documentation, or is it that for some specific
reasons MITK does not use rotation at all?
For the sake of easy reference, I am quoting here the description from the
above mentioned MITK documentation module:
As I mentioned above, please note that in the below description, rotation is
not mentioned.
"*--- Rigid* means *only translation*. The order of your landmarks will be
taken into account. E. g. landmark one in the fixed data will be mapped on
landmark one in the moving data. You have to set at least one landmark and
the same number of landmarks in each dataset to enable the Register button
which performs the transformation.
*--- Affine* means *only translation, scaling and shearing*. The order of
your landmarks will be taken into account. E. g. landmark one in the fixed
data will be mapped on landmark one in the moving data. You have to set at
least one landmark and the same number of landmarks in each dataset to
enable the Register button which performs the transformation."
Thank you in advance for your clarification on whether MITK uses rotation as
one of the parameters, while performing rigid and affine based
registrations.
