Dear mitk user, we are happy to announce that MITK is now Python-ready. Some of you may already realized that there is a "Wrapping" directory in the mitk source tree now. You can access the latest version of the wrapping by pulling from our new git repository. Since there were some bugfixes today, we recommend updating prior to usage. So far, only the mitkCore module is wrapped, but the wrapping procedure, which is inspired by the ITK Wrapping process, is generic enough to wrap other parts and your own modules as well (of course, someone will have to do that :) ). Moreover, we have created in nice bundle with a python console, a script editor, a variable stack and a command history which allows for real interaction with a running MITK application. As with every novelty, it is not be perfect yet and may still have some errors (also in the documentation!).
