d->surfaceNode->SetSelected(true);
FireNodeSelected(d->surfaceNode);

this->GetCurrentSelection();
MITK_INFO << "SurfaceExtractorView::createSurfaceNode() selected node
number: " << currentSelection.size();
The code prints zero.
