Hi Sebastian, the intended use of mitkContourModel is to provide a better handling of segmentation contours. Currently the manual segmentation in MITK is strongly voxel based. In case of the manual segmentation tools the contour information is lost as soon as you release the tool button and must be obtained afterwards by slice-/contour extraction which is rather inefficient. Additional to that the former mitkContour is rather limited in both its field of application and its API.
With the new contour model we want to provide the possibility of extended interactions with segmentation contours which is necessary for e.g. livewire or snake tools.
