First of all, I really appreciate your reply.

I just checked and you are right, there is no tristate support from QT for
the tabs or the tab-bars. Earlier I was confused as MITK black theme tab
files were having same content, but now I can see that, that's why with
black theme there is no separate background for active tab (as opposed to
default theme).
