Hi Martin, you are right it is currently not possible to implement your own events without modifying MITK code. It would be nice though to change the framework to support such use cases I added an according feature request here [1] , but it is probably not something we will be able to address in the near future from our side. I do not see a straight forward approach to implement this, especially when it comes to constructing your external object, I you have any idea about how to do this, or have contributions we're happy to help.
