I tried to reproduce it on the current master using some surface and could not 
reproduce it. Do you have an example scene file you could provide?

It seems that the property value it is ok:

<property key="material.ambientCoefficient" type="FloatProperty">
    <float value="0.0500000007450581" />
</property>
<property key="material.diffuseCoefficient" type="FloatProperty">
    <float value="0.899999976158142" />

But when it loads it, it shows a zero in both fields. I'm attaching an example.

I don't have a 2015.05 version built to test with.
