Hi Mixxx contributors and RJ,
Sorry, I might not have been clear in my earlier email. It was 5 in the
morning and I had already spent a good few hours struggling with setting up
the Mixxx development environment. Needless to say, I may have rambled on
in my email. My apologies. I am very grateful and happy that an open
source equivalent like Mixxx exists in the world today, an alternative that
is can give professional alternatives a run for their money.
My requirements are very simple. I am not a regular DJ in the sense that I
do not have to 'mix' tracks and do any beatmatching or cueing. My music is
mainly meant for dancing Tango where songs play one after the other in
sequence, with 'break' songs every 3 or 4 songs where people change
partners or go back to sitting on the side of the floor. The DJ is still
deeply involved durnig the DJing process because he or she has to observe
the dancers for changes in enerrgy and tweak the playlist accordingly.
Therefore, all I need is:
1. A means to play songs off of a playlist - this is something I need to
fix and is the reason for my email.
2. A means to pre-listen tracks before adding them to the playlist - mixxx
already does this very nicely.
3. Good means to search and pull out songs from the library - this also
works quite well.
My only issue right now is that when I use AutoDJ, it knocks off songs from
the list. I know this is a feature and there is an option to requeue songs
back to the bottom of the list.
However, for my purpose, adding back to the queue will confuse me during a
live setup.
My question:
So I want to ask the developers and RJ if it will be too difficult to
implement a feature wherein songs won't be knocked off the AutoDJ queue. I
know this is probably not planned as a feature for Mixxx, but at this
point, I just want it for my own use. I will of course, share the patch if
anyone is interested.
Thanks again everyone for their efforts and I really really appreciate this
awesome piece of software. I just need to tweak it a little before I can
start using it as my primary DJing solution ;-)
Also, thanks for reading my entire email ;-)
regards,
Seemanta
