if it's debian based (like ubuntu) you can follow the instructions here:

http://mixxx.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/SVN#eeePC

you must explicitly install the compile deps with aptitude or apt-get.

apt-get build-deps WILL NOT do it for you as, apt only knows about the build
deps for 1.5.x (not SVN) because 1.5.x is all that's in the .deb repository.
