The portaudio (libportaudio-dev) in Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10) was not
compiled with jack support. You will need to compile the latest
snapshot of PA (http://www.portaudio.com/archives/pa_snapshot_v19.tar.gz).
Compile it with ./configure --prefix=/usr (this will overwrite your
current PA that was installed using apt)

That should solve it. Although, there is still a mysterious bug that
has still not been solved where you will NOT see jack support after
compiling the latest portaudio. So please write back with your
results.
