Hi guys,

We've just released Mixxx 1.6.0beta2, and our changelog is available
here:
http://mixxxblog.blogspot.com/2008/02/mixxx-160-beta2-released.html

I personally think this was our best release cycle yet. We had a ton
of bug fixing going on based on feedback (and cmetrics reports) from
beta1, and we still kept the new feature work going on (Shoutcast,
MixxxScript). If you look at our changelog on the blog, we got _a lot_
of stuff done in a fairly short period of time. I think everyone would
like to see this sort of short development cycle continue into 1.6.x
series (beyond beta). Good job guys! :)

I'm in the middle of pushing beta2 into Ubuntu's universe repository,
so Ubuntu users should see a definite stability improvement over 1.5.2
(which is what's in Gutsy). Again, good work by everyone.

We'll have to brainstorm a bit to see what we'd like to get done for
beta3 (and/or the 1.6.0 final). On my list:
- Make vinyl control really really good. It currently has trouble at
the start of a track, because you can't seek before the start of a
song (it really messes with the algorithm).
- Support for soundcards with >= 4 input channels. I don't have a
fancy soundcard, so I can't code this yet. If anyone (retailer,
distributor, manufacturer) wants to donate me a soundcard
- Library drag-and-drop. A lot of people miss being able to drag and
drop a file from Nautilus/Windows Explorer/Finder into Mixxx's
library. Drag-and-drop to the waveform works, but the dnd to the
library and playlists needs to be added again. It was lost in the port
to QT4.

I'm sure there's other things too, but for now, I'm just happy we got
another release out the door. :)

Albert
