Hi guys,

The mouse and joystick code inside Mixxx is totally unmaintained at
the moment. If you're not familiar with the mouse code, it attempts to
use the motion of a mouse hoving over a turntable to do ad-hoc vinyl
control. It's a cool idea, and I played with it once about 2 years ago
but I couldn't get it working properly. To date, I've never heard of
anyone else trying it.

When we switched to QT4, we probably broke the mouse code, and
possibly the joystick code too. I've never heard of anyone using the
joystick control either, nor do I know anything about the code. What I
_do_ know is that the mouse stuff clutters up the "Input Devices"
preferences dialog, and its just another piece of unmaintained code.

For these reasons, I think we should deprecate the mouse and joystick
controls for the time being, and remove the mouse stuff from the
preferences dialog. The less (unmaintained) code we have, the less
bugs we're going to have. I'd also like to take the stuff related to
mouse/joystick control off the main website, since nobody even knows
if it still works.

Thoughts/objections?

Thanks,
Albert
