Basic mixing works, and usage is stable for me with version 1.6.

With the default XML map installed as /usr/share/mixxx/midi/Numark\
Total\ Control.midi.xml, and using the "traktor" label card as
suggested in the xml file, most functions on the numark unit work as
expected. The xml file is "loosely based" on the traktor label card...
a couple of buttons have been repurposed. Things which don't work or
are surprising:

* Minimal effects support yet. The total control has 4 effects buttons
and knobs for each channel... currently the #1 button turns on and off
the flanger for that channel, and none of the knobs and none of the
other buttons do anything. [1]

* The "key" button does not currently do anything. In traktor, this is
meant to toggle the behavior of the tempo slider - whether it changes
tempo independently of pitch, or changes both at once.

* The "loop" button has been repurposed in the XML file: it toggles
reverse play mode. The behavior of that is a little weird, because the
jog wheels do not switch direction accordingly. When the channel is
playing backwards, jogging right speeds it up (same as when it is
playing forwards)... I think jogging right should slow it down and
jogging left should speed it up. The jog wheels still behave normally
when the track is paused, regardless of the state of the reverse play
button. So when the channel is in reverse, that means you need to
switch jog direction when you pause and resume playback.

Nice hardware there. I think mixxx only has support for one cue
marker... I know the total control does not have separate buttons for
additional cue points, the way those CDJs did. Though if mixxx does
support multiple cue markers, you could repurpose some of the numark's
effects buttons to use them (by editing the xml file).

The cue function works for me with the total control and 1.6. It has 4
buttons related to this:

* cue play: return to the cue point and resume playing
* cue pause: return to the cue point and pause
* set cue: drop a cue marker at the current position
* play: play from the current position (or unpause)

They all work as expected.

Hope this helps,

Mark

[1]. There is a commented out section in the XML file which would allow
the #1 knob to control the flanger LFO period. There is a comment in
the XML file indicating they were commented out because it would allow
the setting to escape the minimum/maximum bounds for that value. It
wouldn't be hard to map a couple more knobs to the depth and delay,
too. Both sides would control the same value; mixxx does not seem to
have separate flanger controls for the left and right sides.

In addition to the builtin flanger, midi support for ladspa plugins
would be useful. I saw elsewhere on this list list that some work is
needed before ladspa plugins are midi-controllable. However, I suspect
my laptop has some additional setup issues here... I think I've
installed everything I need, but when I open the effects dialog, the
list of effects is empty. I'm pretty clueless about ladspa stuff, so
that might just be user error.
