On the mixer I have there is a toggle on each channel between
phono/line. I have turntables wired into the phono-in and can have my
laptop go into the line-in. If I want to mix between mp3 and vinyl I
can just flick a switch. Even without having that switch you could
keep a turntable on channel 1 and mixxx on channel 2 so long as you
have a hardware mixer lying about -- but if you have turntables and
vinyls to play how could you not have a mixer?

Not to put down your idea, it would indeed be faster and more
convenient, but maybe you can pull this off anyway?
